In the year 2020, Adams County is recognized for its
abundant natural resources, innovative and compatible
economic opportunities, proud Appalachian heritage, preserved rural landscape and
well-educated, healthy, employed residents.
There is a community-wide vision to conserve our
forests, farmland and waterways while creating outdoor recreation and encouraging
value-added natural resource based businesses. We keep our county clean and free of litter
and pollution.
Businesses are located in appropriate areas. Quality
jobs are available for people of all skill levels. Unemployment is lower than the
state average. Household incomes are higher dm the state average.
Citizens, are educated,, healthy, proud and employed. Recreation,
health care and cultural activities are available for all.
Development is thoughtfully planned to preserve
our small town lifestyle and our unique natural areas, to improve housing standards and to
limit sprawl.
Our leaders are responsive. They act on the values
outlined in this vision. They provide necessary public services. They spend our limited
resources wise.
We are proud of our unique projects. Family farms
succeed in new markets with traditional and alternative products. The Ohio River
waterfront is developed compatibly to showcase our natural and cultural assets and protect
the aquifer. Our Appalachian heritage inspires residents and visitors with our strength
and pride.
Laws are in place and in force to restrict the
pollution of air, water, land and noise.
