In addition to a ready work force, Adams County has the means to provide training for a variety of industries.  These outlets include a community college, state university, and high school vocational training. 

Public Colleges or Universities

Southern State Community College

  • 2-year public, Associate Degree-granting college
  • Located in Fincastle
  • Chartered by the Ohio Board of Regents
  • Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges
  • Works with employers through Employment and Life Skills Program (State of Ohio offers employers financial incentives to participate in the program and hire its graduates)

Shawnee State University

  • 4-year, accredited State University
  • Located 15 miles from the Adams County line on US 52
  • Grants associate and bachelor degrees
  • Offers a plastics program featuring basic education to internship program at local plastics manufacturers
Public Schools
  • Recent passage of a bond levy authorized construction of four new high schools and the renovation of existing elementary, middle and vocational schools
  • Educational opportunities compare to larger, urban districts
